Medium Ruby. Aromas of fresh red cherry, wild flowers, dried herbs & roses. Flavors of fresh & dried cherry with some black licorice.
Particularly earthy & with distinctive volcanic created minerality.
Both light & bold, a seeming contradiction that makes them so interesting & unique.
Named after & planted on the Etna volcano on the Eastern side of Sicily.
Eta Rosso wines are a blend of native grapes Nerello Mascalese & Nerello Cappuccio (aka Nerello Mantellato), 20% max.
A simlar blend is used in Faro Rosso wines with Nerello Mascalese 45-60% of the blend, Nerello Cappuccio accounting for 15-30%, Nocera 5-10% Nocera, while Galioppo, Nero d'Avola and/or Sangiovese up to 15% max. and tend to be lower in alcohol.
Very versatile with food. Poultry, pork, salmon & tuna pair well, & a wide variety of pastas. Tomato sauces are a natural pairing.
